Convenient, Premium Halal Products You Can Trust

Our Halal Promise

We work very closely with a number of Halal accredited bodies across the UK and Europe only using meat and poultry at Humza which is sourced from HMC & HMB approved UK slaughter houses along with HAS European Halal approved bodies.

As the Qur’an specifies, all the animals are treated with respect and well cared for at the slaughter houses. Highly trained workers, skilled in limiting the amount of pain and suffering an animal endures, undertake the process. The entire process is carried out in a humane and swift manner.

The following halal principles are applied:

  • The animal is healthy and alive prior to slaughter process
  • The slaughter is carried out by the hand of a Muslim
  • The animal is dealt with one clean sweep of an extremely sharp knife to cause minimal suffering
  • Prior to slaughter, the slaughter man invokes the name of Allah upon the animal to be slaughtered and during the process recites the tasmiya or shahada
  • All the blood is completely drained

Convenient, Premium Halal Products You Can Trust

While confidence has generally been high in the strictly halal methods of local butchers, consumer confidence when it comes to buying convenience foods has faced challenges in the past. The HMB is there to ensure Muslims have complete confidence in the provenance of all our products, while also benefiting from the convenience that frozen halal products can offer a modern family.

About The Halal Monitoring Board (HMB)

The Halal Monitoring Board is a non-profit making organisation, based in the heart of Birmingham, whose main aim is to certify the production of genuine halal food. HMB complies with the UK Laws for food production, as well as Islamic dietary compliance Laws.

The HMB reach out to the highest standards of halal certification as prescribed by Sharia (Islamic Law) and are backed by The Islamic Sharia Council UK and established Muslim Scholars (Ulamah).

HMB’s trained and dedicated staff work with companies who are involved in the production and supply of halal food and products to independently certify all products and provide assurance to the Muslim community.

Its high standards mean that a certificate will only be provided once the HMB is sure that Sharia guidelines have been followed at every stage of the process and that the product is halal.

It doesn’t just stop there either, a company’s licence is reviewed every 4 weeks!

HMB accreditation

While HMB approval costs add to the procurement and production of Humza products, we are confident that it is a small price to pay to ensure Muslim consumers have complete confidence in our products and to guarantee halal products of consistently high quality every time.
